Traffic in our NCR Region – In Focus (Indirapuram) Part I

Traffic Blog 2INDIRAPURAM (Ghaziabad) – Indirapuram is a recently developed area of Ghaziabad and is the prime residential area, one of the most preferred locality in NCR (National Capital Region) due to its proximity with both Delhi and Noida. It is located on NH-24 in Ghaziabad district of state Uttar Pradesh, India. Its foundation stone was laid by Motilal Vora, then Governor of Uttar Pradesh and now a member of Rajya Sabha. The place where the black foundation stone was placed, is now known as “Kaala Patthar” which is a well-known landmark in Indirapuram now. Indirapuram is divided into Abhay Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand, Niti Khand, Vaibhav Khand, Shakti Khand and Ahinsa Khand.

Today I am going to raise a topic that we all face on a daily basis and has become like a filler in our day to day language – TRAFFIC JAMS.

Be that any part of the capital, but we always give it a pass and complete our duty towards it, just by saying THIS IS INDIA, HERE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. Had this been any other country we would have been fined, Jailed and what not. Now the strange part that amuses me is that when the same people are in US, UK or any other place, they will follow all the traffic rules. What a Pity……

However we forget that we all constitute INDIA and no one else. But none of us, will like to raise our hand and will attempt to do something at that very moment. When we know that it’s a menace, and can only be cured when we as citizens of this country do something about it. Why can’t we get out from the comfort of our AC’s Cars and SUV’s or if can’t do that, why can’t we drive responsibly and follow the rules.

At first if you ask me to do all that I am preaching, for a second, I might as well shy away from it, by saying that I am busy and with one person what will happen, but if we become one group of responsible citizens, we will the power that we will carry to drive CHANGE.

 Traffic Issues in Indirapuram

(There are many things that I would like to raise Voice about , but the one that affects me the most is the Traffic System in NCR particularly Noida , Indirapuram.)

I am staying in Indirapuram and have to drive every morning to reach my destination via the NH24 Bypass. Firstly to reach to NH24 bypass is a struggle in itself, the way people drive their vehicles like car, auto rickshaw, SUV, bike, cycle anything for that matter is crazy and the Jam has now become a routine that is repeated every single day of the week. Traffic via Kala Patthar (Market area) and its vicinity is chaotic. No one has any idea where they are going, people are driving from all the directions of the road, and most of the times it seems that the one driving as per the traffic rules is at fault. It’s really a big mess throughout the day. And we have all the bureaucrats, IT professional like me, Well-educated students, parents, you name and they will be participating in the game. At every Roundabout the story remains pretty consistent. And to add to the pain , we have all the Traffic Personnel personifying that there is nothing much I can do about this , and to an extend I empathize with them as well. Most of the time, I see some associates or juniors or trainees standing next to them with a whistle in the mouth. No power and from their shier outlook you can see they will not able to do anything in the situation.

And to be honest I don’t blame them, to stand in the scorching heat of June from Morning till Night, will not at all thrill anyone.

So the Question arises who to blame – Is this the fault of the System, Traffic Personals or the Dept. that laid down the road, or US…. I think if we think about it for a minute, just for a minute, we will have the clear answer in front of us, and that the root of the problem is People like you and me.

  • How many people really know what value does the Signs on the Road means? Why do we have a yellow unbreakable line, whereas white lines are separated by some distance? Why do we have a triangle shaped lines just next to the divider on the road? Why do we have lines just before the Red Signals?

  • Do we know and if yes, are we following any one of the rules.

  • When we are educating ourselves in all aspects of modern life, why do we treat this not an important issue that can save our lives while we are on the road.

  • Why can’t we drive our Cars, Bikes, Cycles, Scooters, Auto Rickshaw in a disciplined manner?

  • Why do we get so fascinated to break the traffic rules all the times?

  • When we expect our small ones to have discipline in their life, Our Country also expects the same.

The answer to this is not hidden at all from anyone. I think the CHANGE can happen only when we start following the rules and make others do the same as well.

I am interested in Volunteering, let’s form a small group that really wants to go ahead and bring some change. We can identify some really chaotic areas and let’s educate people and help the Traffic personnel’s in bringing some meaning to the way we DRIVE.

I will be waiting for your comments……
