Traffic Rules – Are they to be followed?

This is a topic very close to my heart. And being on the road, saddens me every single day. I want to write today to share and understand what’s make us to DRIVE in a SPAGHETTI way.

And ask – Traffic Rules – Are they to be followed?

Driving has today become one of the worst nightmares on the NCR roads. It looks like that we drive to break rules and not to follow them. The sign on the Roads means nothing and honestly if I ask myself, I feel that most of us really don’t know what does Road Signs means and why Govt invest money to Paint them there. Why do we have a Solid Yellow Line, What does White line with breakage means, what are the Lines near Roundabout means etc…

And what amazes most is the Thinking Mentality when driving. We have become so much accustomed to the SPAGHETTI way of driving, that we feel its okay to do following things

  • Overtake from any side possible.

  • Never Drive in a Lane. Lane driving is not for us.

  • Honk as much possible.

  • Use the Light indicators at the last moment when you are about to take turns and that too if you LIKE IT.

  • High Beam – What’s the problem in that? The other driver need to ensure that he can still see with my HIGH Beam lights.

  • Driving/Stopping the vehicle anywhere on the Road. No matter how much clutter we create on the Road. And if someone tries to ask why, give him looks like it was his/her fault to question.

And if i sit and try to put down a single thing which is good the way we drive, i can’t find ANY.

Driving during the Peak Office Hours has become a MONSTROUS thing, Not that other parts of the World/countries don’t have Traffic Jams, but they are still Organized/Disciplined and want to follow the traffic Rules. And we on the other hand, don’t feel like doing any of such thing.

So the BIG Question that arises now, is – What can we do to make us ORGANIZED/DISCIPLINED & Follow the Traffic Rules??

Let’s Try to put together some thoughts….

Awareness Group – I intend to form a small Traffic Awareness Group.  The group will aim to spread awareness to the people in our vicinity.

I am interested in Volunteering, let’s form a small group that really wants to go ahead and bring some change. We can identify some really chaotic areas and let’s educate people and help the Traffic personnel’s in bringing some meaning to the way we DRIVE.
